HOW I WORK

Therapy that adapts to you, not the other way around

I work as an integrative psychotherapist, which means I draw on several therapeutic models rather than following a single approach. Every person who comes to therapy is different, and the way I work reflects that. Some people benefit from structured, goal oriented work. Others need space to talk freely, to be heard without judgement, and to gradually make sense of experiences that have stayed with them. Often it is a combination of both.

THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

Drawing on what works, guided by what you need

The therapeutic models I draw on include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), humanistic and person centred approaches, and systemic therapy. Each offers something different. CBT can help you recognise and change patterns of thinking that keep you stuck. Person centred work prioritises the relationship between us and the space to explore feelings at your own pace. Systemic therapy looks at the wider context of your life, including relationships, family, culture, and community.

In practice, I adapt to what each person genuinely needs. Some people benefit from practical tools and strategies. Others need to slow down and make sense of things they have carried for years. I pay close attention to what is happening in the room and respond to where you are, not where a textbook says you should be.

WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE

Honest, collaborative, and always at your pace

I believe therapy works best when it is genuinely collaborative. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to listen carefully, to ask questions that help you see things differently, and to offer a space where you can be completely honest without fear of judgement.

WHAT TO EXPECT

From first contact to ongoing therapy

Getting in touch

The first step is to send me an email. You do not need to explain everything in detail or have the right words. A short message saying you are looking for therapy is enough. I will reply to arrange a brief telephone conversation where we can talk about what has brought you to therapy and whether I might be the right fit. There is no obligation at this stage.

The first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin to understand what is going on for you. I will ask some questions about your background and what has brought you to therapy, but there is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with. It is also a chance for you to ask me anything about how I work. By the end of the session, we will talk about whether ongoing therapy feels right and what that might look like.

Ongoing sessions

Sessions take place weekly, at the same time each week, and last 50 minutes. Consistency matters in therapy because it builds trust and allows deeper work to develop over time. I offer both short term and longer term work depending on what you need. Some people come for a specific issue and find that ten to fifteen sessions is enough. Others stay for a year or more, using therapy as an ongoing space for reflection and growth. We will review how things are going together, and the ending is always something we plan and discuss rather than something that happens abruptly.

Therapy should feel like a space where real things can be said.
